Larry's spreadsheet shows the detail by company and by country, and he noted that from January through last week, Continental (CLR) has increased their fleet the most -- by 5 rigs. The biggest rig increases by county have been in Burke Co. -- 6 rigs; Mountrail -- 6 rigs; and McKenzie -- 5 rigs.

David has sent along a picture of Pioneer 57 which spud this weekend on EOG's Parshall 4-20H, sec. 20, T152, R90, in Mountrail Co. I think David may just have a little more than a photographic interest here, so let's all hope for a great result.

Nice to see the overall rig count rising. We heard (gossip) a few weeks back that the Vanville in Burke County was held up for a week or so due to Title issues but now is actively being built again. Good luck to David and thanks for the picture!
Just an update to my previous comment, heard this morning that EOG pulled all equipment off the Vanvillve site in Burke County . . . not sure if anyone knows more about this .. ?
I had assumed EOG would use the ENSIGN 67 at the Vanville site when they finished at Ross in mid June.
If EOG has stopped prepping the Vanville site, that is likely news to everyone.
With the price of oil where it is, I think there would even be a few more rigs added as soon as possible.
Re: Vanville site, it appears they have stopped prepping and the excavating co. has moved to the SM Clark site to do prep. At Vanville there is no slush pit, no gravel on the drive. Local gossip has 2 versions of what is going on; 1) EOG had bad luck (dry well) somewhere else and got cold feet and stopped working on this site . . .or 2) more likely, it is related to a title dispute by someone whose father used to own the land . . making life miserable for EOG so they just moved on to elsewhere. No rig was ever set up so it's not that they even know if it was a good spot or not . . as they never drilled.
I wonder if the missing Brigham rig went to Montana? per their recent press release and comments in their calls to "Keep an eye on Montana."
Hard to say with the new permits they just got in Mountrail that were not shared in those recent reports.

Wow, what a difference a few months makes. It's now December and the news is rigs being stacked and guys concerned about their jobs.
I'm working in the Piceance Basin and we've seen a 30% drop in rig count in the last couple of months.
What's happenning to the rig count in the Bakken play?
